So, on 2nd April, which really isn't long now, Mikey and Claire are going round the world for eight and a half months. We're hoping to see some interesting parts of about 15 countries and we are planning to be back for Christmas. This is a brief overview of our itinerary. For more information about what we intend to do in those countries click on the country name and the link will take you to a new page and hopefully a map (kindly supplied by about.com). There's not that much planned yet, we're hoping to see what happens when we get there, but we will probably know more as it happens!

FRI 02 APRLONDON (HEATHROW) to MEXICO CITY
Travel through Mexico, looking at Mayan sites and some Aztec things. Then overland to Belize for the scuba diving.
FRI 23 APRBELIZE CITY to DALLAS FORT WORTH
A day or so in Dallas cos we haven't been there before.
SUN 25 APRDALLAS FORT WORTH to LIMA
In Peru we'll be visiting Machu Picchu, doing the Inca Trail and generally discovering hidden Inca Temples and trying to get used to the altitude. Hopefully we'll get to see the Nazca lines and that sort of thing.
MON 10 MAYLIMA to SANTIAGO (CHILE)
A week or so in and around Santiago. Chile seems to be almost entirely made up of national parks, volcanic, glacial or otherwise, so there'll be plenty of wandering round.
MON 17 MAYSANTIAGO (CHILE) to PUNTA ARENAS
Still in Chile. Right down the bottom now, near the arctic cirlce. There are some great national parks here, and we'll have two weeks to find our way back to Balmaceda.
SUN 30 MAYBALMACEDA to SANTIAGO (CHILE)
Flying from near the bottom back up to the middle.
SUN 30 MAYSANTIAGO (CHILE) to EASTER ISLAND
Yay! Time for the giant heads. It's only a small island and we have two days to do it all!
WED 02 JUNEASTER ISLAND to PAPEETE
Papeete's in Tahiti. We'll have a week there, lying on the beach, recovering from all the extertions. And it'll just a couple of days after our fifth wedding anniversary too, which is nice.
THU 10 JUNPAPEETE to AUCKLAND
So starts the 4-week New Zealand phase of our trip. It looks like we'll be doing a Lord of the Rings locations tour for most of it!
SAT 10 JULCHRISTCHURCH to SYDNEY
And off to Australia for 6 weeks. Only the East coast, although we're hoping to do a sidetrip to Ayres Rock.

Within Australia we'll be doing a few internal flights to get us around:
TUE 20 JUL SYDNEY to MELBOURNE
FRI 30 JULADELAIDE to BRISBANE
FRI 20 AUGCAIRNS to DARWIN
WED 25 AUGDARWIN to DENPASAR (BALI)
Then to Bali. Overland to Jakata, stopping to see Orang Utans in some rescue centres and eat plenty of local food.
FRI 10 SEPJAKARTA to SINGAPORE
Another overland trip. Now the dates are only approximate because we couldn't book them that far in advance. We'll be going from Singapore to Bangkok, but via Vietnam and Cambodia too. Should take about 3 weeks.
SUN 03 OCTBANGKOK to HONG KONG
About 5 days in Hong Kong. Bit of shopping too...
FRI 08 OCTHONG KONG to TOKYO (NARITA)
Two weeks going from top to bottom of Japan and back. Maybe be there in time for the Japanese Grand Prix too.
FRI 22 OCTTOKYO (NARITA) to HONG KONG
Back to Hong Kong cos that's in the middle. We'll be doing a 2-3 week tour of China about now. Nothing booked or planned, will have a look closer to the time. Hopefully Shanghai and Beijing cos we know people who know peoplethere, and the Great Wall too. So back to Hong Kong again afterwards.
FRI 12 NOVHONG KONG to DELHI
The last leg. A lot of things planned in India. We'll be doing as much of the country as possible, including the Taj Mahal, most of the big cities and sights, and the Hill Stations, although I currently don't know what they are, except a guess that they are stations on hills. Making our way to Chennai just before Christmas.
THU 23 DECCHENNAI (FORMERLY MADRAS) to LONDON (HEATHROW)
And we're home!
