In the past 8.5 months I have:

• been to 20 countries
• seen camels, penguins, albatroses, three types of monkey, parrots, cocatoos, pecocks, llamas, guanaco, red pandas, sea lions, dolphins, turtles, scorpions, condors and water buffalo in the wild.
• been on fourteen boats
• capsised once
• been rescued by a Frenchman
• discovered Mikey can actually sail (how cool is that?) although he has flatly refused to take me anywhere near water more choppy than a reservoir on a windless day, which is probably for the best
• been bitten by a donkey
• Ridden a motorbike
• Covered about 7000 miles by train
• Had five baths
• Swam in three underground lakes
• been on 24 aeroplanes with nine airlines
• Climbed up to 13000 feet and dived down to 90ft.
• Seen four glaciers and climbed one.
• Entered Hong Kong four times.
• Built a snowman.
• Learned the Spanish for superglue.
• Listened to the Shrek 2 soundtrack more than 30 times.
• Sent at least my own bodyweight in parcels home.
• Got over my fear of muppets (in theory at least).
• Fed chipmonks.
• Seen 22 films in cinemas.
• Eaten fish four times and discovered battered baramundi.
• Watched the sun rise and set on the same day.
• Written 257 diary entries.
• Still not discovered how the stripes stay in toothpaste (although I intend to find out very soon).
• Missed my family more than I thought possible.
• Slept out under the stars.
• Received four phone calls.
• Written about ten thousand words of my novel.
• Been through 25 international borders.
• Been hit by a morotbike
• Been knowingly to the locations of 26 movies.
• Stood up for a county's national anthem three times.
• Spent between four and two hundred and fifty pounds for a night's accommodation.
• Sung in public once.
• Cooked spaghetti bolognaise six times.
• Seen an opera.
• Been to McDonald's once (to use their loo) and eaten in Burger King three times.
• Obtained a total of 43 new stamps in my passport.
• Eaten duck, pigeon, goat, chicken, kangaroo, cow, pig, llama, sheep and tofu. Not eaten deep fried spiders.
• Heard Hotel California in thirteen countries plus live in Hong Kong, and not once since then.
• Shared six bottles of wine with Mikey.
• Never sat in seats G or I on an aeroplane.
• Found a perfect beach.
• Taken about 3500 photos.
• 8 blank pages left in my passport.
• Traveled by bike, train, aeroplane, cable car, chair lift, sailing boat, catamaran, steam train, car ferry, motorbike, camel cart, auto-rickshaw (tuk-tuk), car, bike trailer, camel, horse-drawn train, canoe, rickshaw and rowing boat.
• Bought two DVDs in shops.
• Sent around 350 postcards.
• Been given flowers four times.
• Not been parasailing nor ridden an elephant.
• Fed a bison.
• Spent an average of 40 minutes a day on the internet.
• Been trapped in Milford Sound.
• Swam in 5 swimming pools.
• Spent about 100 hours waiting for transport.
• Learned to say 'Hello' and 'Thank you' in ten new languages
• Read four books that I really, really enjoyed and two that I hated.
• Used 19 different currencies.
• Emailed Google about my new invention and not received a response.
• Made up six new words with Mikey.
• Pickled beetroot.
