Carlo sand blow at Rainbow beach. This stretch of sand is formed by the wind blowing sand up from the beach and it's huge.

Sand blow

Just to give you an idea of how huge it is, this photo was taken from one side and somewhere in it is Claire.

Sand blow

It's not quite driftwood but it got there somehow.

Some wood

You could easily get lost in this sand. The wind erases footprints quite quickly.

Some sand

Sand monsters! Dead ahead!

Sand monsters

The invisible stream on Fraser island. The water is so clear (and flows so quietly) that you can hardly tell that it's there.

A tree with vines growing up it.

Lake Birrabeen. We swam in it and used the silica sand to exfoliate. The whole lake is just rain water.

Some more coloured sand. This time it's on 75 mile beach, Fraser island.

Coloured sands

The Maheno ran aground on Fraser island in 1935. Four or five decks and about 30m of the stern are now buried beneath the sand.
