The Victory Gate, another of Angkor Thom's five gopuras.
The rear entrance of the Ta Prohm temple, situated to the east of Angkor Thom.
The front of Ta Prohm. Sometimes, getting these pictures without hoards of tourists in them takes a bit of patience. I think that this one took 10 minutes.
I really like this picture. One of the great things about Ta Prohm, and some of the other temples, is that nature has taken over a bit. There are numerous trees growing in all sorts of odd places and this has to be my second favourite one.
This blocky tower can be found in Ta Keo.
The small, but no less beautiful, temple of Thommanom is located just outside the Victory Gate.
The central section of Angkor Wat is located within the 3.5 mile outer wall and is just spectacular whicever way you look at it.
Inside are several levels that gradually lead up to the central tower. Some of the stone has very little colour and on an overcast day you could be forgiven for thinking that you were seeing in black and white. The buildings of Angkor Wat are the most complete and intact in the region and because of this and its size it is the most visited temple too.
The central towers stretches 65m up into the sky, quite an acheivement 900 years ago.
The outer wall of Angkor Wat seen from the other side of the moat. I chose this angle in an effort to hide the restoration work being undertaken on the causeway but it may still be visible. When we return I'm sure it'll be finished.
